Cottonwood Archaeology is a small contract archaeology firm based in Moab, Utah that serves private, state, and federal clients for a variety of industries and purposes. Cottonwood considers local and Indigenous perspectives to best serve the interests of the community and our clients. Job Duties:
Cottonwood Archaeology is hiring a Principal Investigator position whose duties will include but are not limited to:
· Project and client procurement and management
· Personal and business permit retention
· Budget development and management
· Client and agency personnel communications
· Fieldwork including survey, site recordation, monitoring, and excavation
· Writing and reviewing reports
· GIS
· QAQC
· Management and supervision of staff
Requirements:
A qualified candidates should possess:
· A graduate degree in anthropology or archaeology (Master’s or Ph.D.)
· Meet the Secretary of Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for Archaeology and Historic Preservation
· Must possess or be able to acquire a Utah BLM Cultural Resource Use Permit as a P.I., and PLPCO P.I. permit
· A minimum of 6 years of professional and progressive experience in Cultural Heritage Management with at least 3 years of experience in the Great Basin and Southwest regions.
· Working knowledge of Utah and federal regulations and agency requirements related to archaeology and historic preservation
· Experience managing projects and crews
· A positive and respectful attitude and work ethic
· A strong working knowledge of GIS
· A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
· The ability to meet deadlines and produce strong reports
· The ability to work independently
